Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet area situated in The West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" place. Many people unfamiliar with the word often think that there is a separate island west of Montreal However, in reality the West Island is home to everything from the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island. However, this is not true. Brugel developed on Courtice just outside Oshawa within Ontario. Early ambitions were to become a dancer. But, a growing increase caused her to surpass every dance partner she was able to have. According to an article in the Toronto Star, she revealed her height in heels as 6 foot 1 inches tall. When I outgrew my male friends, I quit. A lot of former dancers go on to act. For Brugel, it was the encouragement from her drama teacher at her high school which pushed her to the path she wanted. It was the teacher who recommended she pursue a role for the school's annual production. The school's production was a success and she was selected to play the principal role of Anne of Green Gables after she had a go at. She was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program which she completed in 2000 with a degree of Bachelor's in Fine Arts. Over the last 20 years, her work has been seen on the small and big screen. She gained the most fame when she was offered the part as Rita in the award-winning television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian part of the cast during the season 1 of the series and only seen occasionally.
